When to use this calculator

Use revenue growth to compare months, quarters or years of equal length. Keep your revenue definitions consistent, including how you treat refunds and taxes; growth is not the same as profit growth.

How to calculate Revenue growth

(Current − previous) ÷ previous × 100

Use periods of equal length and consistent revenue definitions. This is a period-over-period change, not an annualised growth rate.

A worked example

With previous revenue of 10,000, current revenue of 12,500, revenue growth is 25%. Change the example above to match your situation.

Enter amounts in the same currency and time period. Results display up to two decimal places; calculations use unrounded values. These estimates are for planning and education.

Common questions

Can revenue growth be negative?

Yes. A negative percentage means current revenue is below previous revenue. A drop from 100 to 75 is a 25% decline.

Why cannot previous revenue be zero?

Percentage growth divides by the previous period. When that baseline is zero, the percentage is undefined. You can still compare the absolute change in revenue.
